The Citizens' Accord Forum for Jews and Arabs in Israel (CAF) was established with the vision of building a just and equal relationship of accord and stability among Israel's Jewish and Arab citizens.

Following the events of October 2000, and the increasing polarization between Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel, the need for "accord" and "normalization" has become paramount.

Our mission therefore is to bridge the gaps between Israel's Jewish and Arab communities, and strive to implement systematic changes to improve the status of Israel's Arab citizens. This is addressed through our work in five targeted areas: advocacy, education, local & community development, media and networking.

Established in June of 2000 by Knesset Member, Rabbi Michael Melchior, former Minister for Israeli Society and World Jewry, and Deputy Foreign Minister in the former National Unity Government, the Citizens' Accord Forum provides the support and professional framework for large numbers of citizen activists to volunteer in a variety of socio-political arenas.

By cooperating with governmental leaders to set measurable goals, Forum members are impacting public policy and shaping public perceptions toward greater equality between Arab and Jewish citizens.

The Citizens' Accord Forum is the prominent of the three active wings under the auspices of the NGO Beit Moetzet Yachad (the Unity Council Institutions), the others being the Social Accord Forum and the Unity Council for Ultra-Orthodox, Religious and Secular Relations.

The structural operation of the Forum demonstrates equality at every level and includes equal representation of Jews and Arabs. The decision-making process is mutually undertaken by Jews and Arabs and steered by co-Directors Ibrahim Abu Shindi and Udi Cohen.
